It is a product that helps with muscle relaxation and is recommended for: Eyelid spasms (blepharospasm). Neck twist (spasmodic torticollis). Muscle stiffness in the arms (spasticity of the upper limbs in adults). Temporary reduction of facial expression lines. Botulinum toxin type A, present in Xeomin®, acts by blocking communication between nerves and muscles, which results in temporary muscle relaxation. This effect usually lasts between 3 and 4 months, until communication between nerves and muscles is naturally reestablished.

Doses were defined in Speywood units. One unit (U) is defined as the mean intraperitoneal lethal dose (LD50) in mice. The Dysport® 500 U vial contains 4.35 ng of botulinum toxin A 1,2,3, also called protein load (the amount of neurotoxin effectively present per vial). Therefore, one Speywood unit (U) is equivalent to 0.0087 ng of toxin. Or, inverting the proportion, each nanogram of neurotoxin is equivalent to approximately 115 Speywood U. CAUTION: DYSPORT® units (Speywood units) are specific to the preparation and are not interchangeable with other botulinum toxin A preparations.
